New Jersey is doing everything in it’s power to encourage the adoption of electric vehicles. Governor Phil Murphy has announced incentives up to $5,000 and a $500 rebate for a home charger installation.

These incentives are available for anyone who has purchased an electric vehicle after January 17th 2020. The amount of the rebate is determined by the range of the vehicle running purely off electricity and the eligibility is determined by vehicle price.

Currently the rebate is only available for cars less than $55,000 in an effort to not subsidize the purchase of luxury vehicles. The amount is also determined by how many miles a car gets on electric charge only, with a driver receive $25 per mile up to a cap at $5,000.
