Backup generator giant Generac entered the solar-storage market last fall, focusing on systems that have more capacity compared to the likes of Tesla, Sunrun and LG Chem. While more power and capacity naturally comes with a higher price tag, the company has been dropping prices to match competing system in recent months.

The latest version of Generac’s backup power is a “whole-home solar power solution” including a PWRCell battery with more power and capacity than previous models. The new battery is an automatic transfer switch, which will cut back on labor costs and overall expense and will be able to manage up to four household circuits. Battery backup from Generac is available through many solar installers across the US, many of which are working it into a special solar + storage package.
